HeavenGames Tech Blog http://techblog.heavengames.com/articles.rss en-us 40 The other HG blog. Software Update
Blog software was updated. They changed the default theme from the previous version, and this is one of the better looking of the three until I find some time to skin this to look something HG-ish.

When I have time. *chuckles*
Tue, 08 Jan 2008 00:12:00 -0500 urn:uuid:e272ccce-5b35-42f5-a132-12a951455097 http://techblog.heavengames.com/articles/2008/01/08/software-update#comments http://techblog.heavengames.com/articles/2008/01/08/software-update iDrama
Well, here we go again; a few days ago a staff member quit because blah blah blah freedom of speech blah blah blah I don’t play the game anymore blah blah blah so F--- the world blah blah blah f--- HG blah blah blah everythingsux okthxbye!

Are you serious?

Freedom of Speech is being able to express your ideas and opinions. Media professionalism, which staff requires, means you have to do that without dropping stuff like the f-bomb, checking your sources, and making sure you know both sides of the story, or at least did you best at trying to (nothing much else you can do when one side says “no comment.”). Yeah, it may be stereotypical for some to say, “but, dropping stuff like the f-bomb is part of popular gaming culture!” But it’s not the culture at HG, and we’re not about to start dropping f-bombs all over our site, so let’s just leave it at that.

Lastly, there’s no obligation for staff to stay staff. If a staffer have stopped playing games for good and want to shed his/her duties at HG, then be responsible and hand off those duties to someone who can take over, and then bid farewell. Don’t be immature and flame out in the forums in spectacular fashion.
Mon, 07 Jan 2008 16:27:00 -0500 urn:uuid:34ffa87e-fcce-441c-b40b-d82dd6e90507 http://techblog.heavengames.com/articles/2008/01/07/idrama#comments HeavenGames iDrama http://techblog.heavengames.com/articles/2008/01/07/idrama Season's Greetings

Mon, 24 Dec 2007 11:46:31 -0500 urn:uuid:7e196a32-8e69-4c8e-9641-e196690935ce http://techblog.heavengames.com/articles/2007/12/24/seasons-greetings#comments http://techblog.heavengames.com/articles/2007/12/24/seasons-greetings Public Service Announcement: Smurves
While I have nothing (yet) against the registration activities of certain individuals who shall remain unnamed (but you know who you are), please be advised that certain moderators (myself included) have a tendency to decide to use or upgrade to the heavier penalty vs. a lighter one (e.g., an official warning vs. an unofficial warning, a ban vs. a warning, a month ban vs. a week, a week ban vs. a day) should, after a check for smurves, it is discovered that you own multiple accounts, should you run afoul of the Code of Conduct accidentally or intentionally.
Fri, 21 Dec 2007 18:32:00 -0500 urn:uuid:d1e2b7ea-afb7-4179-afba-bfcb6d49cb43 http://techblog.heavengames.com/articles/2007/12/21/public-service-announcement-smurves#comments Forums Forums smurf registration http://techblog.heavengames.com/articles/2007/12/21/public-service-announcement-smurves HG Podcast #1: The Pilot Episode
About a week ago, HG staffers Elpea & Atzy, along with show guest Cheesewiz (HG Seraph from WICH), recorded the first HG podcast. This was intended to be a test of our capabilities and logistics (how to record from Skype, how to do it when your guests span two hemispheres, etc.), and was never intended to be released. However, after getting a lot of positive feedback and learning a lot of lessons, we were encouraged to release the very first episode.

We’re working on future episodes (in fact we finished recording the second one today, but there’s still a lot of editing to do), and we would like to hear from you on what you like and don’t like—as well as ideas and suggestions for upcoming podcasts.
